For those of you who don’t have the date written down somewhere, or haven’t passed a card shop recently, it’s Mother’s Day very soon (15th March in the UK!)

Whether it’s your mum, grandma or your partner that you celebrate on Mother’s Day, we’ve selected 10 special gifts and outings in and around Cambridge, which are the perfect way to say thank you!

Eating out

Mother’s Day Afternoon Tea at Anglesey Abbey includes sandwiches, scones and cakes. There are three sittings to choose from: 12noon, 1.30 & 3pm so you can take it easy in the morning before indulging in this delicious treat!

Browns of Cambridge offers a delicious special Mother’s Day menu in the heart of Cambridge, which is handy for visiting the shops or museums before or after you dine.

Wine Tasting

Cambridgeshire Wine School offers regular wine tasting events. This would be a perfect grown up treat for wine enthusiasts or complete novices. Hic!

Take the perfect photo

It looks like it will still be cold on Mother’s Day this year, but it’s still beautiful at the Botanic garden. Photography masterclasses are available this spring. Could this be the perfect gift for mum?

See the sights from a punt

If you’re feeling brave, why not wrap up warm and go on a special punting trip on the Cam. Punting off peak means you can hone your skills without hitting the crowds and there’s always tea at Grantchester Orchards to warm you up!

Arts or Science?

The science festival is running for 2 weeks during March. On Mother’s Day there are a range of events to choose from, from family friendly to adults only.

If history is more your thing, Lucy Worsley promises an entertaining insight into the world of her favourite queen, Caroline, “the fattest, funniest and cleverest queen to ever sit on the throne.” Find out more and book tickets here.

Pampering and relaxing

Although the Clarins Spa is right in the middle of Cambridge, inside it’s relaxing and tranquil. There is a range of treatments to suit and pamper any age and although spaces in the spa fill up fast, a gift voucher can be used at any time. If you’re looking for a longer spa experience, there are plenty of spas offering evening, day or whole weekend experiences. The Wood Fen Lodge is only a short drive from Cambridge but is a perfect antidote to the chaos of modern life.

The Cambridge Buddist Centre runs regular yoga and meditation courses. If your mum would like to find inner peace, book a session here.

Or something further afield..

If tranquility is not on Mum’s wishlist, why not head into London to see a musical? There are so many to choose from!

Don’t forget to make the occasion even more special, by booking an Airport Lynx chauffeur to transport you in comfort. Whatever you do, we hope that you and your special lady have a brilliant day. Happy Mother’s Day!
